I have 2 - 12w6v2 and 1 - 500/1 and I am just not getting the output I am expecting. Would someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or put my expectations in check?
I have the DVCs wired in serial and then the 2 subs wired in parallel to the amp. This should produce a 4 ohm load which the amp supports. I have tuned the input sensitivity to 44.7V (jl recommended at 4 ohm) using a volt meter and 50Hz reference CD. My box is a sealed enclosure at 1.25 cubic feet per sub, the air space is not shared.
When I pump up the volume, the subs hit but just not very much. If I wire one sub with the DVCs in parallel and disconnect the second sub from the amp and tune the input sensitivity to 31.6V (jl recommended at 2 ohm) the sub hits hard, very hard. I think it could hit harder but I have not played with all the "nerd knobs" to tune the amp perfectly...
Any ideas why this setup will not perform with 2 subs??? I understand that each sub should get at least 400-500W RMS each but I have been told by a couple of installers that this setup should rock, hard! If anyone has this setup or similar could they provide their settings on their amp and perhaps a wiring setup?
This system is being driven by an Alpine CDA-9811 HU and I am driving stock components from the HU currently in an '03 Jeep Wrangler. Once I get this project figured out, the next step is to replace stock components with something better and add an external amp...
Any help is greatly appreciated. One more thing, these "installers" are saying that this sub will perform under a 1 ohm load even though the jl documentation rates it at 1.5 - 4 ohm. Anyone experience running a 500/1 at 1 ohm load successfully?
