2 12's: suggestions

looking for some suggestions for 2 12" subwoofers (must be 4ohm dvc) or capable of running at 1ohm (both subs that is). most important criteria from most important to least:

1)sound quality

2)spl

3)loudness

budget is $300... willing to get little higher if the break price is well worthy. want to get my monies worth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif i been peeping the new model alpine type-rs in 4-ohm, but still researching.

listening habits are about 70% volume level. mainly hip-hop music, trance, and some classical. must withstand these kinds of music! and can take a good beating. but they'll only see 500rms as i already have the amp which does 500rms @ 1ohm.

Would be a very good choice, except that the Atlas is a 4ohm SVC driver - the other voice coil is used for adjusting the Qts.

So you'd only be able to get down to 2 ohms combined.

The new Type R handles 500 RMS each, if your looking for two subs thats not going to do it for you. You need more power for two of them. They cost around $200 each as well so your $300 budget has gone up before knew it. What brands do you have in mind already?

See if you can get a pair of IA 187 12s in dual 4 ohm VCs. You'd be looking at around $200 or so for the pair, they sound good and get loud, and if you get a bigger amp they can take almost anything. =)

You should get two Kicker Comp VR 12". They slap hard, but that SQ is okay.

since i plan to run only 500rms, i wanted to know if a single 12" jl w6 will do the job?

they go for 330 on onlinecarstereo and a little higher than what the new model 12" type-r's (2) sell for. but would 1 of the jl audio w6 12" sound good and have just as good spl as the alpines?

How about 2 12inch l5 or l7. They will get pretty loud in a large ported box. The SQ leaves something to be desired though. Not the best SQ it decent but will get loud for the amount of money your looking to spend
