ok so looking to buy my first set of subs or sub and ive saved a good bit and i was wondering what would hit harder in terms of raw power and bass quality

ok so Set up A

2 Kicker L5s 4 ohm DVC wired to 1 ohm final. Powered by 1500w amp (not sure which one yet open to suggestions) 1 ohm stable

or

Setup B

1 15 inch kicker L7 at 2 ohms powered by Kicker zx1000.1 (kickers are usually underrated im told so at most might push around 1150w?) at 2 ohm final load

please tell why u think either choice would be better

Additional info:

Both set-ups would probably be in the kicker ported boxes

lol they are the ones ive done the most research on.

ive heard nothing but good things, i have found good (ish) prices

what could u present to me to find better in my price range?

For the first setup, a Treo 750.1 comes to mind for a one one stable amp. The L5's are rated at like 450w rms, but I'm giving mine over 600 and it's loving it. An L7 will pound with the right power too, though.

What do you mean by bass quality? You mean sound quality? If you listen to all kinds of music, look into another sub. Kicker Solobaric's are pretty much straight SPL oriented subs that don't have the sound quality of others. I listen to country, rock, rap, and everything in between, and mine sounds like *** one some music (could also because my box is tuned high).

The Kicker prefab boxes are trash and not worth the money, IMO. For the price it would cost for one of them, you could get a box built for you.

audioque as awsome subs for the price also more spl oriented though but since this is your first system you probably couldnt tell sq from spl.. no pun indented if you just looking for that neck snappin teeth rattling hair shaking bass you proably want spl not sq

kk thx for the info on the box will take that into consideration. i just dont know how to go about makeing a ported box was the only hesitation in making my own

and by quality i just dont want it to have the same tone as if someone was buzzing their lips in imitation sub noises. if u get my meaning

also the kicker L5 12inch are 600 rms

Make a thread in the inclosure forum, someone would be glad to help you out on a box build or do it for you.

I don't really understand what you mean by the sub buzzing. That could be port noise, or even a ground loop through the subs. I can't answer more without more information on that.

Ah, I'm only familiar with the 10" L5.

im in the chicago and im selling my 4-15"L7s for cheap 08/09 models, and there is a guy here in illinois that makes perfect boxes, he goes by the name mlstrass here on car audio hes done 3 for me pm me for more info
