1x 15" vs. 2x 12" (SPL)

Hey what would be better for SPL as i want to enter Street A class in dB drag sometime when i get some better soundz. Say with one XXX's/SI Magnum D2 15" or two 12" RE XXX's as rules are different over here, you're allowed 1x 15" in the street A OR 2x 12" so what would give loudest spl in a ported box tuned to lowish freq. ?? What dB ya reckon i could reach say giving 15" 1500wrms wif BX1500D and i'd have another one if went wif 12"s so have 1500w going to each? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif Or: say a larger amp on the 15" to fully reach potential. IMO, if you compare subs by the same manufacturer in the same series, and tuned to the same frequency, then the 2-12" subs vented will be louder than the 15" sub vented.

Well whats the point of that then, 2x 12's will always be the way to go?? Thats what i thought just will be a lot more expensive is tha thing. hmmm...

If your going Ported and not Vented, the Ported may be a little bit more versatile in your case.

Since you plan on competing you can have switchable ports. Short ports (high tuned) for SPL, and then when it's time to listen to real music you can switch to some longer ports (lower tuned) for better sound quality, but a little less SPL.

Just my opinion.

Yes that is a very good point, my reason exactly for going ported.. well one of them! Ya just one port (hole) simply change actual port and you're sweet -right on.

The dBDrag rules have changed for this year, 2 12s or 1 15 now puts you into the Street B class. 2 10s, 1 12, or 3 8s is allowed in Street A.
