1999 F-150 head unit install

***UPDATE***

Everything went off without a hitch. Never had a HU install go that smoothly. Hardest part was running the wiring for the XM Radio hard-wire kit (keeps the dash unit, but erases all the wires on the dash. Hard-wires power to 12 volt and ground, and signal comes through FM antenna...pretty cool idea.)

Went well. Thanks again for the help, guys!

I am going to be installing a Pioneer HU in a '99 F-150 either today or tomorrow. Will be replacing a Sony HU. Single din. Anything I need to watch out for, or is it a pretty straight-forward install? Never installed in a pickup before; just want to make sure there isn't anything weird in my future.

Thanks!

You're replacing a head unit that is already aftermarket. It doesn't get much easier than that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Unless the head unit that's in there now was hardwired extremely sloppy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The HU that is installed now was installed by Best Buy (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif). I told him not to let them do it, but I wasn't available to install it when he bought it (about 3-4 years ago.) So, I hope it isn't TOO bad, but we shall see.

Fu! best buy rules! lmao.

If it was installed by best buy, then most likely a wiring harness was atleast used then so you should be good to go brotha.

It's like any chain store, though, you got some employee's who are good and other's who **** balls.

Yeah. I know the guy that installed it for him (I think), and if it was him, he does pretty clean work. So hopefully it won't be too much of a mess back there.
