1998 Ram SS/T

Decided to start my build log even though I'm not really that far along. Obviously my system isn't the caliber of a lot of the builds here, but its mine and I worked hard for it. So this is my truck that was stolen and stripped by some little maggot *** tweaker, fortunately it was recovered but needed a lot of work just to make it drivable again. I'll skip all that and just get to the audio part of things.

I have pretty much everything I need for the install, although the subs were not my first choice. I originally had 2 RF Punch P3SD410's and a T600-4, but I had to return them so I could deal with some medical stuff for my daughter. Eventually I will have what I really want, but this is a good start I think.....

Here is my HU:

Alarm is completely installed, i just need to stuff it up behind the airbag and get the dash all buttoned up after I run my signal cables:

After reading about the health risks of asphalt based deadener's I decided to rip out all the Fat Mat I had in it, couldn't stand the thought of my daughter riding in the truck with it in there after all the **** I read. So I got a pretty good deal on some older SS Damplifier on CACO, the stuff with the silver foil.

I had an abundance of foil tape here at the house, so I went over the top of everything to make it look clean, I **** at laying deadener so it looked kinda like a jigsaw puzzle. Anyway, I got the doors done so far, I still need to do the back of the cab, the B pillars and the roof. I think I'm about 15 sq.ft. short and I haven't decided yet where I'm gonna skimp for now, but probably the roof.

Deadener overkill it is, but I'm pretty **** happy with it. In all I used the following:

37sq.ft. Second Skin Damplifier

12sq.ft. Dynamat

20sq.ft Gorilla Tape

80sq.ft. Foil Tape

Now that the tedious work is done, next on my agenda I need to go through the cab and cut out all the interior trim tab holes. Then I'll do my Big 3 in 1/0 gauge.

Made up some cables today for my "Big 3", though it's actually 5 in my truck. Made an additional 2 while I was at it so I can upgrade all the factory grounds. The wire is 1/0 Monster and I wrapped it in TechFlex, and the ring terminals are all soldered. Will install them tonight after my daughter hits the bed, and get another update in the next day or so.

Finished all the power and ground cables, and have power run to the back of the cab. Next up I'll run speaker and signal wires.

Keeping it all tidy under the dash:

Driver side has 2 runs of Kicker XW1220, Amp Power and remote wire.

Passenger side also has 2 runs of Kicker XW1220, and 2 sets of signal cables.

Nice work! I like how clean everything is. I won't hate on the Kickers, they are WAY better than stock for sure.

Here are a couple update pictures, things are pretty slow going. All the wiring is ran and tucked away, and all the interior trim is back in with exception to the doors.

Got my mids and highs in today, not much left to do.

Ran into a bit of a problem today when I was putting my doors back together. The back of the door panel was laying right on top of the speaker. So my solution was to take the mesh out of the speaker grilles and use the trim ring as a spacer. As you can see the door panel doesn't bulge out much at all, and the speakers have the clearance they need.

Here are a few more progress pictures. I should have the time to finish this up on Sunday. I'm gonna put the subs in that I have for right now, but my plan is to try and save up for some Punch 10's and build a custom box.

(The reflection kinda makes it look like duct tape on the ends of my techflex, but it's heat shrink tubing.)

Clean install man. A lot nicer job than some of my older installs. Looks good.
