Hi,

I have a 1991 Ford Taurus Sho and I am trying to replace the broken factory radio with a CD Player. It has a factory amplifier that I have to bypass, located in the trunk, and I'm lost as to what to do.

I have replaced all four speakers, and want to run new wire from the door speakers and rear speakers to a new amp in my trunk, and wire the amp to my cd player, but I'm not sure how to go about doing so, especially with having to bypass the factory amplifier.

Any ideas?

Okay, I think I got it figured out. I'm going to install a new amp in my trunk, run the ground to a screw underneath my backseats, run the power through the carpet to the battery under the hood, and run the remote wire and the RCA's under the center console into the cd player. From there, I'm going to run 16 ga wire from the door speakers, through the runners, and into the trunk. Then I'm going to run the 16 ga wire from the rear speakers straight down into the trunk. After that I'm going to hook the speaker wires up to the amp and all should work..... Right? or do I need to do anything else with the leftover wires in the back of my cd player, since I just hooked the speakers up straight to the amp?

Absolutely nothing. I'm still waiting for my parts to come in the mail. I've got a 1000W Amp, 4 new speakers, all the cables I need, and probably some I don't need. I just don't really know how to hook it up, since I'm bypassing the factory amp, and trying to use the old wires as little as possible.

Okay, I've been looking for a hole to snake the power cable through from the battery to the amp, but I'm not sure what to look for. And if I do find one, how do i find out where it comes through so I can pull it out from under the dash?

Should wrk only one way to find out. As far as getting lost I mean if you cant seem to find where the wire is coming into your car then just pull the wire out and start again.. Pull up carpet in front seats a lil bit so you can see your firewall and see where there are grommet's then go under hood and see if there is one thats inline or close to being inline with the one you found inside your car.
