Looking to get one, buddy had a '91 coupe back in high school and it was a nice little car.

I currently drive a 2001 Accord coupe, but I'm sick of how much it costs to maintain, and the monthly payment, AND the full coverage insurance. It's getting real old, real quick.

So..I'm going to save up $2k and buy a 1990 - 1993 Accord.

If any of you guys happen to own one...post pictures and your general thoughts on the car.

And for you Honda guys, a JDM H22 will be soon to follow after I buy one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

1. how much it costs to maintain

How is an older car of the same model gonna cost less to maintain? Odds are you are going to be replacing just as much, if not more stuff.

2. monthly payment

Pay the car off? How much could you owe on it if you've had it for a few years. You've got money.

3. full coverage insurance

Insurance for me is $150 a month and I'm 19 and I've had one accident. $500 deductible, but when I got into my one accident I didn't even have to pay it anyways. Plus, how much cheaper is insurance on a 1991 Accord than a 2001 Accord? Not very much I'd imagine.

LOL, all of this is coming from the guy who told me on aim the other night; "I know nothing about cars."

I want something on the side to work on, besides my daily driver. And if I find something is great shape, I'll snag it and sell my car. My old 1989 Park Avenue with more miles had less problems than my current Accord. A 1990 Accord is a completely different animal then a 2001 Accord. Just because my 2001 car has problems doesn't mean a 1990 is going to be worse.

You have no idea how much $$ I have, what parts the "new" car will need, let alone the cost to repair X part because you know nothing about cars. You're trying to look at this from a "logical" perspective, and it's simply not working.

My current insurance is $240 a month, if I decided to get rid of my car, my insurance would go down to about $100 a month for the "new" car.

Whats your daily driver then? Didn't say it was going to be worse, I just said I would assume an older model of the same car would have at least an equal amount of problems. My mom had a 93 Lesabre for a while and that thing was always in the shop, I think we sold it before the ****** went.

You are correct. I was just basing my opinion on my experiences that have lead me to believe new cars tend to be more reliable than old cars. I also equated working a full time job and living at home to = you having some money saved up. :shrugs:

I don't really see how that's possible, but perhaps.

I'll try to work on that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Maybe I'll try illogical next time?
