Possibly. Depends on the enclosure and many other factors. I had my xxx running off a modded 1501d and it started to stink after a while.

Hmm, maybe I should consider getting a smaller amp. It was previously running off a vx4000D along with another 18xxx

Since you already have that amp you should use it. Just watch the gains and you'll be fine.

it's about 50% up and i'm running 7.5v RMS of signal into it.

Set your gains for 1600 watts. And you wont have to worry

No but my audiocontrol overdrive stays on 7.5v rms consistently.... so .yeah.

Anyways, would 2 15" XXX get louder if I ran 3K watts total (2 1501d's). I'm just debating whether I want 1 or 2 subs and I'm really thinking 2 at this point. I want as loud as possible with decent SQ and not toooo far out of my price range. I can spend about 1200-1300 at this point as I'm selling my system right now.

IIRC, Orion amps don't like anything over 4v of input. They fry.
