1700 watts will draw somewhere from 120-140 amps of current cuz W/V=A

That leaves you with about 40 amps for your car needs and speakers, if you're actually pulling the whole 1700w, which it probably won't anyway but you should try to build it so you can at least blast the system on full.

 
Ull get good drop but ull be OK. That 180 is prob at 5krpms and is cold rated. Seeing as most ur driving will be below 3000rpm and once heated up you realistically have if lucky a 100a alt. Also, if ur amp is rated at 1700@ whatever load an is fused for 150-170a you will never actually draw that amount of amps as music is dynamic.

No need to bypass the amp. Most use an LOC that takes the full amped signal and turns it into a flat RCA level signal. Here is the newest I have...

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...
