18" Juggernauts?

Today at a local shop i heard a navigator with 2 18" Mmatt's Juggernauts, running around 3000watts, and jesus christ did these things hit. Has anyone had any experience with these? The guy is also getting two more, and he let me sit in his ride and that was the loudest system i have ever heard. If anyone knows anything about these subs, can you tell me how they stack up against like a 18" sx? I'm pretty sure, my buddy is a Mmats dealer and he has a few Juggy's laying around (older models, I believe 2001-2002). He told me that the 18" Jugg uses the Dread motor- pretty sure the motors are about the same size as well...although the newer Juggs look to have larger top & bottom plates than the old one. He's used several of the Dreads as well...they are pretty good drivers, and get pretty **** loud when given decent power.

I just looked at the site, the Jugg 12" and 15" have 1.4 coils, while the 18" (along with the Dread models), have 2 ohm coils.

Just look at the equipment used at finals....

Snova, they wouldnt have different RMS ratings if they were the same coil, so nominal impendance isnt really relevant. The only diff between the new and old jugs is the engraved/chrome backplate and the swap from the venz basket to the 12 spoke. The Jugg uses the same cooling methods as the older model DD 9500 series (big holes) while the Dread does not. Its the same concept as the CSX (designed by the same dude) the 10 and 12" models have a smaller motor than the 15 and 18".

I understand bigger isnt better but why use a lower models motor for the biggest all out SPL sub?

We both know there is more to a coil than its diameter...

old jug, same motor just doesnt have the engraved/polished motor and the 12spoke basket...

Juggernauts are made for SPL purposes. not daily drivers. you can use them in that application (and they can be very very loud in it) but the SQ will not be as good as other drivers.

i'd recommend something else for daily drivers.

dont use juggs for daily drivng just go grab 18" xxx(if you can get one) and i promise you will be more than happy

I live in fort pierce, you know, the town that got hit by like 3 hurricanes in 2 months a couple months ago //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Yeah i livea about a hour north of palm beach. Near Port St. Lucie and vero beach.
