174 on a single RE SX?

I was at Sound World, the only reputable shop in area and the people actually know what they are doing and talk about. Justin Whitty used to work there and they have built some great SPL and SQ comp cars. Well I stopped in and the current worker who is pretty cool and is all about SQ comps was telling me about someone pulling a 174db on a single RE SX. We all know Alan Dante did the 180 but that was a DDZ not a RE SX. Anyone hear of the 174 on a single 18 SX? I havent heard or seen anything about it but theres a lot I dont hear.

i could see dante doing it with a single re sx 18" IF he wanted to just do a drop in switch, it seems possible. his enclosures already so **** efficient, it wouldnt take much im sure.

didnt he burp a 170+ with one of the lower line dd 10/12s anyway? or was that with a 10" z?

I know its not out of question for someone to do a 174db on a single SX, but I agree it will take one hell of an efficient build to do it.

I dont think it was alan dante though cause I mentioned his name and the installer was sure it wasnt him cause he knows who alan dante is

RE puts that on all their boxes... it even said "Warning! 174 DB capable" on the box of the RE8"s i got

Yea i remember hearing that he tried different subs in his car all different dd level subs and everything did over a 170 even the 2510s he put in it so if someone had a set up efficent as his they I cant see why they couldnt take a SX 18 and do a 174 with it I have seen people do 160+ with entry level MA audio subs
