so i've been reading and it seems that 16v can be bad on a car...i'm ordering my ho alt soon and i was wondering if i should get an external regulator?...its for a daily driving car...it worries me that i might get tempted to try 16v and ruin something...so go with the external or leave it out?

The mla you dont have to worry about 16 volt anything and can give you a nice .5volt to 1 volt increase for less money. You start looking into 16 v you are talking 18v batteries, daul alts or multiple modules......

If you don't understand the whole step down thing, or the difference between a 12V and 16V system, you should stay far away from a 16V alt. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

16v can be a problem if it's not set up properly. You could run an alternator with an adjustable voltage regulator and set it for 15v with no problem.

Talk to any of the professional alternator builders who can help you with that type of upgrade.
