15's that sound great and get loud with about 600 rms SEALED

Now that I got my mids/highs I'm ready to start planning my sub system. I am open to going ported but as of now I want to go sealed. I want my subs to sound great with all types of music and play all the sub sonic ranges well and get really low. What are some good 15's that sound really good sealed on about 600 rms? I'm thinking of getting a pair. I was looking into the Obsidian 15's but seems like they are meant for ported boxes. All help much appreciated.

Oh and budget for subs will be in the 400ish range and I have already decided on the amp. It will be a SoundQubed Q1 1200D ( 1200 X 1 @ 1 OHM RMS )

The 600 watt OA 15 has an EBP of 40, which lends it very well to sealed applications. If you're dead set on locking your subs in a sealed box, they would be a good choice.

When you're looking at subs, divide the Fs by the Qes and the result is the driver's efficiency bandwidth product (EBP). Drivers below 50 will do better in sealed or 4th order applications. Drivers between 50 & 100 will do well in either and those above 100 will do better in ported or 6th orders.

Or at least, that's the common wisdom. I've found that drivers above 70 don't like sealed boxes at all and drivers above 100 are few and far between. Fifty to 70 do well in either and below 50... seldom do well in ported. But... that's not a rule, just a guide.

You're going to get bored with sealed. I'm throwing 1,000wrms at a pair of Audio Technix Strato 15's sealed and it just doesn't impress me anymore.

Yeah the trunk bangs hard........yeah the rear deck is flopping violently...........but it just doesn't cut it anymore. Go ported.

The thing is if I get bored with sealed I can always go ported later. I know how to build sealed boxes but ported boxes I won't even attempt. If two 15's on 1200 rms sealed is not loud enough then something is wrong. I'm not looking for spl. I want sq but want it to be very loud sq.

Sealed sucks.
Please say this is a trunk car.
Nope, 2007 Jeep Liberty suv.

Got TONS of room in the back...

Allright so talk me into ported guys. I listen to you guys. Got my front stage comps and amp based off you guys and I could not be happier

If I got ported I still want two 15's that will do well on 600 rms each. Maybe Sundown SA's, Obsidian v2, C2 Threatcon. There is a good deal on two American Bass xfl 15's for 390 shipped but they need more than 600. I'm really not trying to go over 1200 rms cause I don't feel like droppin money on a alt and I'm not looking for super spl

Now we're talking here and you kinda have good timing. I have a buddy on here who's looking to sell a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ15v1. Considered to be one of the better SQL subs built and the ones he has have stood the test of time pretty well. @mat3833 ; is the guy to look for. Price is pretty reasonable IMO.

Or maybe I should go with one high end 18" I'm afraid an 18 won't have good sq ported and on my rock music though. Read sub size and sq is a myth though.
The problem with a single 18 when you're looking at 1K to feed it is that a phenomena called box rise is going to kill the power you're sending to the sub at certain frequencies. It's better to go with a more efficient design like a pair of 12s or 15s and have an advantage in cone area as that's what will make the difference.

You can go up to a 2000 watt amp all day long in that truck @boomboxstereo has one and has ran a gammit of subs all on a saz2000d. Now as far as your box building skills. I believe buck is a vendor here and for cheap money he can design you a box. all you have to do is put it together

I have heard IDQ's before and really liked them. I heard a pair of 10's sealed and they sounded great. Problem is I won't have enough money saved up for about another month or so. Just spent a little over a grand on my HU, Mids/Highs and amp.
