Anybody know of an amp that fits my criteria? Looking to go active in the near future, and the first step is to get all the components necessary to do so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Anything ~$300. Must not look like a POS (going for aesthetics in my next install)

alpine pdx-4.150 or some shit like that. just iinstalled one in my ride to replace smaller 4 channel. so far so good. very small footprint and can be stacked. can be had for 350-400 dollars.

u don't really need that much power for going active, but you can stick with the alpine PDX, just do 4.100 instead of the 4.150 to stay within ur budget. What kind of processor are you going with?
Havent decided yet. So far I have my sub and amp, and my CDT's that I'll remove the passive crossover and fully deaden the doors. I have the cdt's running off 150w a side right now.

Next I'll be upgrading to either a 9887, X991, or another headunit that will work for active.

What else would you recommend ?

passive is using the supplied crossover which sucks up quite a bit of the input power. Active would be using some type of electronic crossover or processor to set frequencies, filters,and slopes. (ie headunit with crossovers, electronic crossover, etc, etc, etc)

I'll be using atleast 2 of the GTO75.4II's in my upcoming active install, current running a single 75.4II (passive & bridged). 100w should be sufficient for the mids and well more than any tweeter would ever need. Though I'm a big fan of power.....you can never have too much.

For their price.....buy two of them, you'll only be a little over your budget including shipping depending on where you buy from, and then you'd have 285 x 4 @ 4ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif You'll never run out of headroom.

Question, Can my alpine 9857 run active? here are some specs..

BBE Processing: BBE makes vocals or instruments sound distinct regardless of the music source. You can select the level of the BBE effect (1, 2, or 3), or turn BBE off. Note: You can set different levels of BBE for each source. BBE is not available for AM radio.

External Processor Controls: This unit can control an Alpine multi-channel sound processor, such as the PXA-H701.

Bass Engine: Bass Engine functions provide control over your system, so you can tailor the sound to your personal tastes. Bass Engine includes the following functions:

* Bass Control:

o Bass Center Frequency: Select from 60Hz, 80Hz (default), 100Hz, or 120Hz

o Bass Band Width (Q): Select from 1.25 (narrow) to 0.50 (wide)

o Bass Level: Select from -7 to +10 (-14dB to +20dB in 2dB steps)

* Treble Control:

o Treble Center Frequency: Select from 7.5kHz, 10kHz (default), 12.5kHz or 15kHz

o Treble Level: -7 to +7 (+/-14dB in 2dB steps)

* Defeat On/Off: You can reset the unit to its factory default bass and treble settings by turning the Defeat function on.
