$150-300 Comps in Kickpanels.

If you're familiar with Q-Logic kickpanels you know that they're flimsy and are not enclosed. They have a wide open back. Also, they only fit 5 1/8" speakers with grilles. I've heard you can fit 6 1/2" without grilles which is something I might end up trying.

I currently have Rainbow Dream Line 5 1/8" Components. I'm running them on 100-125watts from a Nine.2 amplifier. They aren't as clean as i'd like them to be, there's literally no midbass, and they don't get as loud as I want them to.

I backed them with a few layers of sound dampening and a 1/4" mdf ring and stuffed them with polyfill. It didn't seem to help much, but I'll do this with the next set of components too.

So, for my application, what should I get? They're paired with a Diamond M6 MKII 10"d2 on a Viper 1200.1 currently @ 1 ohm.

i got RE components (6.5" midbass and 1" tweeter) onto my q-logics... just mount the mid on top of the indent with longer screws, doing this also shallows up the mounting depth. i get decent midrange from this setup but i am running 75w at them, they're rated for 50w. mine only have the supplied polyfill behind them, no deadening done; they rattle pretty bad when the mids get loud enough to massage my feet.

Well, but I don't have 215 watts. Does anyone have reccomendations for speakers that work well in kickpanels, non-sealed that will produce good midbass in a 6.5" size and also get pretty loud on 100-125w?

Pg octane zr's will slam the midbass, and get loud. They may be something you should consider.
