15"xxx vs 12w7

well i'm getting a 15"xxx hopefully tuesday already ordered it going in a custom ported box and this guy who lives by me will be getting a 12w7 in a powerwedge box so i wondering which would be louder and which would have better sq and how close would they be my xxx is going into an explorer and the 12w7 is going into an eclipse 95ish. they will both be getting around their rec. power

install dependent, but the XXX should be louder. sq eyy i donno its a toss up IMO.

my XXX was louder than my friends 12w7, w7 was getting 1.5krms, XXX was getting 1.3krms, i just had better enclosure. so if you install is good should be a bit louder

the XXX will own the W7 in loudness depending on the power you give it. I know you'll have the right box for it since i'm helping you. now you just need the right amount of juice. i recommend around 2000 watts. An incriminator audio 20.1 would be a good fit also.

had both... sq is about the same to me. im actually leaning towards the xxx. Both getting same amount of power off the PA 2400. the xxx was alot louder by ear and you could feel it much more. I had the H.O box and had the xxx in a 4 cf enclousre.

In my experience the W7 actually owned the XXX but that was 12" vs 12"

The W7's really don't come alive until you port them and throw around 1,000-1,500rms on them.

Let's see, 15" XXX getting around 1600rms in a large ported box vs. 12" W7 getting around 750 watts sealed.In this case the XXX will be louder.

yeah, it should kinda be a no brainer...as long as the ported box is decent.
