the zcon and mag are like apples and oranges.

the mag is more of an sq driver that can get loud if needed be, but can get play a wide range of frequencies while still maintaining a great sound

the zcon on the other hand is rated at 2250 so its an spl woofer which can probably sound good.

they are different types of subs

no it won't get much louder, i really doubt it. You're using the same power and same size subs. The mag's can get very loud, so i can't see you being able to hear a difference. Maybe on the mic it may get a few more points but it shouldn't be noticeable to the ear. IF your set on getting the z's let us know how they compare but i have a feeling you may get disappointed

The Z v.1 was pretty similar to the Mag v.3 15" -- the v.2 departs a good bit from that. This is a direct quote from Jacob(Sundownz) over on SSA Forum and I know that Jacob and Nick are partners and He would know.

Very true statement. The Z v2 is a good bit different than the v1 but it is probably the driver that the OP is looking for because it can take some serious abuse, utilizes one of the best cooling systems I've ever seen, gets very loud, and still sounds pretty good.

BTW Nick I would like to thank you for those Mags they sound sooooo goood But I want something Louder and with similar sq that`s why I going with the Zs

but if using the same power, would he be able to hear a difference between the Z v2 and the Mag v3 or would it just meter louder? I also have a friend who's thinking about either buying my Mag's or the Z v2's? not trying to hijack the thread

I have already asked Sundownz that question at first when I asked about the Zs and Yes The Zs would be louder off the same power BUT they would be in a different size box than the Mags....my Mags Box is Bigger than the box Im building for the Zs off the top of my head I would say about a cu.ft.smaller

wow this thread really took off... Thanks for the input all, especially Nick. I was planning on doubling my power from 1200 to 2200 with a Zcon instead of the mag, but i have since decided against it, as i dont feel the difference in output between the two setups is worth $900.. I will just stick with the single mag for now until i get a vehicle with more room, Would love to throw both my mag 15's into a trunk car and have a proper ported box, but sadly my monte carlo doesnt have that kinda room...
