I know what you mean,they do what they do and do it very well,I love my Mags but like you I want something that will play like a Mag but Be Louder....I`m looking into some Sundown Zs

Exactly what i mean... i want something with same sq but LOUDER lol... zcon seems like it fits the bill while sacrificing a bit of SQ...

Maybe i should stop being lazy and rip my box and amp rack out, fire the sub forward and seal it off from the trunk. When i had the mag setup like that in my Cavalier it was insane, and no trunk rattles FTW!... hmm what to do...

with the same power and same size subs, i doubt the Z's will get louder. Check with Jacob he knows both subs in and out of course.

All SSA subs are quite SQL oriented. Tuned in the right box, they will sound very good. I have never had a mag, but have heard great things about them. I also heard the V2 was much better. So the only real solution is for OP to find another mag, if output is what hes looking for. Or possibly run something like 2 idmax or FI Q. Or an XCON or ZCON. I really can't see OP being disatisfied with any SSAs.

At the level of subs your talking about your not going to get much louder... Even if it handles 2x the power and suffers no compression you'd gain like 3dbs. If it's going to be "louder" and your not gaining cone area your likely just dealing with a peakier box which means SQ will suffer as it'll just be louder on certain notes.. If you want a noticable improvement you'd probably want to go with 2 very high quality 12's. At least then you gain some cone area and gain cooling so you'll lower your power compression

Ya you won't notice a huge difference. Especially in the same box. Off the same power someone could close your eyes and you couldn't tell when they swapped it out.

To get a real difference in sound you need to get a different box or a different size and quantity of subs

i`m not the OP but have been posting here with the same situation only, i`ll be putting the Sundown Zs in their proper box according to Sundown specs .so are you telling me that I won`t notice a difference in output? Okay sorry I just Notice you are talking about ZCONs and not Sundown Zs my mistake.

no it won't get much louder, i really doubt it. You're using the same power and same size subs. The mag's can get very loud, so i can't see you being able to hear a difference. Maybe on the mic it may get a few more points but it shouldn't be noticeable to the ear. IF your set on getting the z's let us know how they compare but i have a feeling you may get disappointed
