15" si mag vs. Idmax SQ BATTLE

I know that the si mag will have better output do to cone area, but what will sound the best. Also i know that SQ is subjective. I really like fast kick drums and lows as well. Listen to Hip hop, trance, drum and bass, and numetal like linkin park. Right now I currently own a Diamond TDX/D9 12" in a 2.7 cf tuned @ 29hz and feel that it really lacks in the fast quick drums. Should I tune it higher around 33 hz or just throw it in a sealed box. Right now i am leaning towards buying a 15 si mag. I heard the si mag had the fastest response, but will it have fast kick drums ported? Also heard the Idmax was a very sound pleasing sub. I want your guys oppinons. thanks

You have a great sq sub, try putting in a large sealed box and see if that improves the response. And for the 2 subs the only way to decide on one is to hear them. Each person is going to have a different opinion on what sounds good or how fast the response is.

Sealed will almost always give you the fastest response and the best detail. I do not think that one sealed 12 will do it for you, try the 15 inch mag sealed or two twelves or even two 10 inch IDmax's sealed. One sealed 15 is the best bang for your buck and the mag will work in a box about the size of the one you are using.

Thats what i was planning too, si mag 15 sealed, Its hard to describe the kick drum i am looking for. I want a punchy kick drum but yet smooth aswell like a live concert. Whenever i hear sealed boxes they have fast kick drums but not the smooth one im looking for. Usually more of a sharp tone. So i was wondering if tuneing higher is better or will that cause a sloppy slower response?

You must be doing something wrong... Never heard the mag, but the idmax is good IMO. Accurate, fast, and can get low. You should listen to jamesbangs
