15" Mag Sealed/Ported?

What would be the sound difference or loss of quality in these set-ups?

I've got a Rockford Fosgate 801S Punch (850W @ 4ohm) for the D2 Mag 15"

I was thinking of doing 2.5 sealed,

Or a 3.7 sealed with a 10" long 4" flared tube port.

That's called ported.
If you are talking about the old Mag, port it.

Sealed is going to be more accurate, ported is going to be louder. The Mag will still be accurate ported but customers have loved them sealed as well. If you're after a LOT of output and you have the room, go ported. If you want a usable trunk, then go sealed. Even sealed the Mag is going to have plenty of output even with 850 watts.

Yeah, everyone use to say they were efficient. But now that the new one is coming out, the old one is called 'inefficient'. Please try to keep up with the trends.
I always considered the Mag to be decently efficient - especially when compared to a lot of the subs they were compared to (big SPL drivers). From a sealed perspective they were pretty efficient but they shined when ported. The Mag in question found its way into the SPL arena a lot and somehow got the misconception that they were power-hungry beasts. They could handle extra power, but they didnt' need it for daily driving.

From a small sealed performance standpoint, yes, the current Mag is no match for the new Mag in terms of efficiency.

I think you mean your amp is 850x1 @ 1 ohm right...
Nope, the RF amp does 850 @ 4ohms bridged. Also I knew I was talking about porting the other box.

One question though - if I just plug my dimensions into the calculator over at the 12volt for porting equations, should I have to worry about port noise? I've never used a flared tube as a port before...
