technically, any sub can make alarms go off...my 10" p1 with my p2002 amp (in my s10) was makin this kids alarm at my votech chirp 2 spots away..after a while it'll get annoying..but yes kicker is very good no matter what anyone says. they are very reputable.

Guess what?

All Audiobahns don't ****...

The thing you have to remember about solo's is that they have a reputation for being NASTY loud subs, and are at a pricepoint where anyone can pick one up, even people who may or may not know anything about car audio, and just want loud bass to show off to their friends.

So you've got these guys just tossing l7's in huge, extremely high-tuned boxes, which make the usage of subsonic filters crucial, and also make distortion nearly impossible to detect by ear, and just hook up an amp, crank the gains, and blast away.

So next time you hear a lot of people complaining about reliability problems with kickers vs. other subs, just keep in mind that they're a fairly mainstream (nowadays) brand, with a distinct reputation for being loud, that are fairly inexpensive, so you have a lot of idiots just tossing them in their ride. Someone who's not genuinely interested in caraudio is gonna pick up a $300-400 solobaric way before a $500-600 w6, a $800 w7, and probably has never heard of a RE or a diamond.

Just my $.02

i have heard so much shit about kicker over any other company

its either

- they work for a different company

- kickers do truly ****, so they make you buy it so you waste your money in the long run

- kickers are truly the best bangers out there, much haters

quick question, l7 - 12" vs 15" single, whats better in mix spl

I don't get what your saying. Are you saying kicker is shit? Or there are alot of shitheads out there that don't know how to use them?

I would stay away from audio shops. From my expirence all they wanna do is SELL. They don't give a shit about anything else.

kickers r my all time fvt sub, but im just too afraid to get one cuz of all the shit i heard, if there were all good feedback i woulda brought one in a heartbeat

Very true.

No no no, i love kicker subs, in my own experience they're great quality. I had an older black/silver 03? model 15 in my jetta, and that was straightup the loudest system i've ever owned.

And i'm not saying anything about l7 owners, either.

All i was saying is that l7's are still in a pricepoint where it's not exclusive to car audio experts, so there ARE l7 owners who don't know what they're doing.

I, myself, honestly had no idea what i was doing back when i owned mine, i'll admit. It came in a box that the shop built, i had no idea what it was tuned to, no idea how to set gains, no idea how to tweak it really. Now that i've had a lot more car audio experience, and educated myself on how to select and install equipment to make it sound GOOD, i've actually been thinking about revisiting l7's for a summer SPL setup to swap in for weekend bumping. The only thing that's been holding me back, is i haven't found a box that tickles my fancy yet. I'd like to find a 2 sub, 4cube each 35-40hz box for two 15's that's long and tall, but not more than 44" wide. Once i find one, it'll be game on. I just want the box as big as possible, so they'll move with my bxi2006d.
