Not sure how it compares to either of those, but almost everyone who has every had a rl-p enjoyed the sound quality of them. They are designed to sound good first, output second. Not to say that they are not loud subs, just lean more on the SQ of things.

I really enjoyed mine, and the only reason im selling it is because I want something new. I bought mine used, and its next to impossible to find another 15" RL-p used around (ive looked) the forum, so I decided to upgrade.

Anything from 800 to 1000w is fine for a RL-p, you can still use your current amp, just keep your gains down.
