15" FI Q in a 2.79 cuFt sealed. Yay or Nay?

After realizing I probably won't be able to go ported for a 12" Fi Q, should I just go ahead and upgrade to a 15" and throw it in a sealed box? I've heard a few people have some problems with putting the Q in a sealed box, but they have mostly been 12s.. Any people with 15s out there in a sealed box?

Would the upgrade result in a great difference? I would like the lows I suppose.

Also, should I stick with the sizes for boxes on ficaraudio, or should I just throw a 12" in this box...?

Will be throwing it about 1300 RMS.

Going in an extended cab Ranger, so it should be pretty loud.

I did see the thread on andy6387's 15" sealed, but just looking for some other peoples opinions. I know a lot of you guys out there have them, just haven't really shared your videos / pictures / experiences with us.. lol.

Yes I've searched countless times and read a lot of the old threads about the Qs.

do you have a link to andy's thread?

I have a single 15" Q in a sealed enclosure of 2.45cu.ft. and 1100wrms @ 1ohm with a memphis and I feel that its not hitting right. not as clean and not hitting all the notes good enough. what's wrong with my setup?? Should I make a bigger sealed box or just go ported?

I havent heard of any issues with the Qs sealed. It seems that the problem on that thread stemmed from not having things sealed properly (last post he made stated that he sealed things up and it sounds amazing).

We recently had Kirk Proffitt take 1st place at Meca Finals in his stock SQ class and receiving 9.5 out of 10 points on his bass score (SQ). He is running a pair of Q12 sealed. He was 0.8 points behind the car that took best of show (in the masters class) and was second overall at Finals for points.

Thanks....

Scott

I am curious. If you have enough room for a 2.8 sealed enclosure for a 15", why would you not have enough room for a 2.8 ported for a 12"? 2.5 cubes @ 34-36 was recommended to me by a few people on here for a single Fi Q 12". Might want to rethink the sealed 15, since the ported 12 will very likely be louder. And, you can use almost the same power on it as well. Just my $0.02
