Thanks

but still ...most of the prices are gunna be around the same price as a brand new one at the store local...if you have to ship it....it would be better for you to sell there local to make anymoney off them.....
If your not interested, then NO need to reply in the thread.

Thanks

I agree.. even with the price drop.. these are about the same price I would pay for them walking into my local Sam's Club or Costco... without the shipping cost.

For example.. the Yellow Top Optima group 34/78 is only $153 at Costco.

Note.... I think those model numbers listed in this post are Sam's Club models.. the "SC" stands for Sam's Club which is how Optima labels them specifically for that distribution.

Oh one more thing for those who don't know..

OPTIMA has changed their policies on Warranty of their batteries now.. You must be able to provide a dated sales receipt from an authorized Optima dealer for them to honor the warranty..

This never use to be the case but it is in fact the case now.. it even says it on the battery label.. must have receipt for warranty replacement.

Either way... good luck with the sale.. but the shipping cost is gonna Kill it for most of us.

price drop again? if you would do $150 shipped you would have maybe all of these gone...
I may consider that.

But I will thinkn on it.

Sorry but you are incorrect.

"SC" on optima batteries do NOT stand for Sam's Club.

Feel free to go to any Sam's Club that sells Optima brand batteries.

All Optima batteries you buy will have a "SC" part number. NO MATTER WHERE YOU BUY THE BATTERY AT

Do you even know where Sam's Club gets the Opitma batteries from?

Also you are not accurate on the warranty replacement.

All batteries are stamped with a "date code", if you DON'T have your receipt for purchase then the "date code it used as purchase date".

When you buy an optima battery it is SUPPOSE to have a date sticker on it (month/year) from the place you purchase it at.

That is also USED for warranty purpose(shows month/year it was purchased). As you can't get those stickers, just anywhere.

unless its the new ones built by interstate (bought out optima)

Interstate Batteries DOES NOT own optima battery. They did NOT buy out Optima.

Optima is a JCI prduct.

JCI builds most of the batteries you buy today.

Interstate does NOT build any batteries. JCI builds Interstate batteries.

Same place that builds wal mart brand, deka, exide, etc. Same place builds them.

I'm not a dealer or anything but I have access to all dealer prices, any national accounts that have special discount (lower than dealer pricing, etc)

Sam's does not get any special Optima batteries.

but yeah...what we are trying to say is ...sell these local...you will not get anyone to buy these offline shipped for the prices you have post or even a little lower sorry....
Understood it the first time, as you have stated it 3 times now in this thread.

Been there for 12 years.

Sam's does not get any special Optima batteries.
ok your right, johnson inc. bought out optima (who owns interstate)

Just thought I would respond so you didn't think I was pulling piss out of the air...

All the Optimas that I bought from Sam's Club have the "SC" model numbers..

All the Optimas that I bought from Costco have simply a 6 or 7 digit non-descript model number.

If you order directly from Optima.. you have to place your order with a battery group number only.

There are no "SC" numbers to go by... why.. it's possible that those are not Optima numbers... I'm not entirely sure but walk into your local Sam's Club and have a look at all their Optimas.. then walk into your local Costco and compare the same exact battery.. then lastly... walk into your local small time Optima Battery dealer and try to order an "SC" part number.. and watch the look on his face while he tells you that he needs to know what Group Size you need as that is the only way he can order the right one for you.

I may not be completely correct in this.. but this is what I found out during my extensive search for batteries for my applications.

In either case....

All Optima batteries you buy will have a "SC" part number. NO MATTER WHERE YOU BUY THE BATTERY AT
unless its the new ones built by interstate (bought out optima)

This possibly would make sense as there could have been various manufacture runs (before and after the buyout) of the batteries with differing part numbers out on the market simultaneously.

There's also a possibility that Optima's website may have been updated and purged of any of the old part numbers.

This is just speculation, however.

I shopped around quite a bit and asked alot of questions before I got all my batteries. Even talked to the Optima guys about the warranty changes.

For example... were you even aware the previously only the Red Tops carried the 3 year Free Replacement plan 84 month prorated warranty while the Yellow Tops only came with 1 year Free Replacement and 84 month prorated warranty? However, now effective for all purchases dated after February 1st 2009, regardless of what it says on the Yellow Top labels or out of date signage in the stores... All Yellow Tops purchased after Feb 1st 2009 will come with the same 3 year Free Replacement and 84 month prorated warranty just like the Red Tops now.. but you will need to have your receipt to prove that you indeed did purchase your battery after that Feb date when the NEW warranty became effective. Without your receipt.. you will be out of luck and take your chances on your warranty being honored even with the Date Stamp. By the way.. the date stickers are on there for show only.. the actual manufacture date is "stamped" or etched onto the actual plastic battery case.. this is what most vendors go by.. not by some sticker.

Don't really want to get into a pissing match here but you are operating on some old info bro in regards to the Optima warranty... go and have a look at any of the new labels on any of the current Optima batteries from the distribution centers. It clearly says it right on the front of the labels. If you got some old batteries sitting there then I could see why you might not be aware of the changes yet. Some of the Optima vendors are not even aware of this yet.

The whole date code thing.. that was how they use to do it and they were very relaxed about it but now.. I guess with the economy in the crapper.. they too are trimming their operational costs. There are other changes too I'm sure.. I use to be a big fan of the Optima batteries mainly because of their customer service but things are changing I can assure you.

In this case here.. If anyone were to be getting any of these Optima batteries from you.. I would be hesitant to tell them that they would be entirely covered under the new warranty policy... that is unless you were an authorized dealer of some sort.. which I didn't really pay too much attention to if you mentioned it or not.. I don't know.. I guess it all depends on how anal the Optima folks want to be about it these days.. What I can say is that in the past.. I've never had any problems with Optima and their warrranty even without having my receipt in hand.. but that may not be the case now...

Personally... recently...

I bought several of the Red Tops and Yellow Tops.. but have since gotten rid of them all in favor of the Sears Branded Platinum Odyssey batteries... Just giving these a try to see if they are any better as they have some good reviews.

Again.... Good Luck with the sale !!!

Also wanted to add that I have never been dissatisfied with any of my optima batteries before deciding to change over. It was just a personal choice and partly curiosity with a different brand.
