15 and need advice on 1st car audio????

ok i have a question. im 15 and my first car is a 97 cavalier rs 2 dr coupe. the audio i have purchased and had installed so far is 2 10" mtx thunderboxx 8800 subwoofers, a orion 2channel 800w amp, a orion 4channel 400w amp, a tsunami capacitor, 4 infinity 6x9 speakers, pioneer 6700 head unit, and a yellow cap gel battery. should i keep this system as is or upgrade. if so what should i upgrade to and which brands and power would be good for my car? thanks.

Well i really cant understand what you really want? Do you want us to design you a new systme or evaluate the one you have, but depending whether you paid MSRP for that equipment, we could probably design a better one

You should upgrade by ditching the cap and doing the big 3. That will help. Other than that, you're good for a while as a 1st system. You may want to look into some sound deadener though.

im basically askin if my system is alright. should i invest in some dynomat? and what do you mean ditch the cap and go for the big three. another thing i was thinking was to ditch my subs and go for 1 12" JL w7, and maybe a 1000/1 JL to go along but thats expensive.

acouple questions you should consider

whats your budget looking like?

whats your goals? (sq, spl?)

are you happy with how it sounds?

what parts of the system do you think you need to change?

do you want to buy things online or will you be only looking for products in your area?

and more... but those questions can help people out... But if it was my car, I'd be happy with that for a first system and slowly upgrade as you get bored of it... at 15, you shouldn't worry about wasting all that money on car audio.

IMO

Loose the cap

Do the "big three" (do a search on it)

Keep the subs

Build you a properly ported box.

Cap = Capacitor... get rid of it.

As for ditching the subs and amp, what are you after? Sound Pressure Level (SPL), Sound Quality (SQ), or both (SQL)? You have a decent setup as it stands, just need to ditch the cap and up the big 3 (main ground and power cables in a vehicle).

He has the cap already. You can still keep the cap even know it really is useless. I have mine for eyecandy as it has strobes on it that blind me. Good thing my seat folds up. Not a bad system for your first one. Jl is very overpriced. You can get other stuff just as good and save money in the process. Good luck!
