14volt vs. 16volt?

And i dont know bro but i pesonally dont think your gonna see a huge difference audibly from running 16volt to 12volt with an mla having you sit at 15.4 area. I do know there will be quicker drops at 16volt when the bass note hits than at 15volts cus the difference in amperage your getting from the alts.

16 volt system are usually charged to about 18 volts..

Well the hole main reason to run sperate 16volt was to run the higher voltage on its own system. I really dont want to stress my trucks stock electrical with a 15.4volt charge rate going through it. Also on a 16volt system you charge at 18volts so I assume at the most I would drop right around 16-17volts.

From cold starts in the morning the 15.1v already makes the truck through codes and locks my anit-lock brakes up.

Then yah i would say its prob worth it then. Thats a big difference in power and i didnt realize the 15 volts was playing hell with ur truck as is.

16 volts is where its at ....very easy to set up and run on a dailey set up
Thanks for the info...

hopefuly I can get my dual setup to run a 16volt system...

Anybody know if the IA 40.1's are capable of handling 18volts?

How is it simpler? Either way its all the same thing as if it was running 12volt. Just higher voltage. Also I never run with engine off. And never will.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Pretty hard to demo if you are indoors at a show/booth and they don't let you run your engine.... same voltage alts can share the loads of the system where as the 16v will just handle the 16v side..thats pretty obvious though...

Well that would be taken into consideration. But here in colorado. Every shows is outdoors. I don't know of one place big enough to fit cars indoors other than the pepsi center. And nothing ever goes on there. And still I could play with my car off and not worry about being able to start back up.

So what's some more info of this?

Went through some new system changes and still want to run seperate 16v setup for the woofer amps. I'm not sure where the idea is of a "shared load" that audiolife said. I would think a 16v setup would do better for long term playing even with the vehicle off wouldn't it?

Depends on the capacity and the draw. Also shared load would be about 2 14v alts vs 1 14v and 18v alt.
