Last weekend I finally went out and had my car tested; first time, and since the shop was doing an open house, it was free.
I have never run a sweep through the vehicle so I do not know what I peak at, so I just tried a 35,45, and a 55hz tone.
I'll start with the equipment I am using.
I have four JBL Power Series 10s (p1022's) running at one ohm, in a sealed box.
Powering them using a Fusion NV2500 amp.
Stock 130amp ALT,
I have two batteries, one is a commercial battery out of a semi truck, the other some huge deep cycle Interstate.
I know, none of this is really top end or expensive by any means.
Anyways, I had 30 seconds to mess around. They put the sensor at the top right corner of my windshield. I am not sure if that is the right spot or not, but it was a Termlab.
So I did my 30 sec run, and hit 138.6 @ 35hz. Not sure if that is good, or bad really, but for some reason i was hoping for somewhere in the 140's.
Things to note, this was windows up, in a 1990 Taurus, box in the trunk. Big three done, decent (not superb) power/ground cabling in the trunk. Also, my windshield is not completely sealed, and in some cases I think it may actually be loose.
I have also cut a vent out in my rear parcel shelf so there is more area for the sound to get through to the cabin, and no rear speakers installed either. No sound deadening anywhere either.
Since doing the test, I sealed my trunk lid a little better and it seems to hit harder, so maybe that contributed to a lower than expected score, but it may only be placebo, and if not placebo, probably only 3db if it was perceivable. Nothing significant.
Opinions? Please don't trash my setup, This is my daily setup and i am not a competitor by any means.
Thanks
