Hey all, this is my first post. It's been 12 years since I built my last system. Well, yesterday(after reading posts on here for the past two weeks) I decided to buy 2 Alpine SWR-1042's and power them by a Hifonics BXi1606@1Ohm. All this in a sealed enclosure I built yesterday. It is approximatley 1.3 cuft per sub and custom built to fit in the back of my 2000 GT Mustang. Mids and Highs will be provided by SPR-57LS components driven by a Hifonics ZXi4006. I bought a new head unit and will be installing that also. What do you all think this will sound like? I'll know for sure what it will sound like when all the parts arrive, but just wanted to ask the people with experience.

Hi and welcome to the forum. What kind of head unit did you get? For what you do have 2 type r's should sound great in you mustang. Make sure you have a solid front stage, and do some tweeking and you should be just fine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i can say i dont care for the type r's sealed, but i went nuts over the ported one i did hear (mine, in a friends box). i just put 2 SE10's sealed in roughly 1.3 cubes sealed net total and they hit **** well, and get loud enuff for a daily setup. the type r's may fit you perfectly, i have no say in that.

like he said, i would rather see you port one R than seal two of them. but its your call to play with after you listen to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

otherwise, looks like sturdy ground for a "first" system. (not your first, but you know what i mean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif )

I ordered a Panasonic MXE CQ-C5401U for 139 from Crutchfield. That was the one and only thing though. Just about every amp or speaker was ordered from a different vendor. I'll see how the subs sound sealed and may decide to go ported in the future. You all don't think the BXi1606 will be too much for them do you? It's supposed to pump out 1600rms@1Ohm.
