12W7 Box Size Help

Okay tomarow I'm having the local shop build a new box for me (dont have the time nor resources right now to build my own) and would like to know what is the optimal sealed size for SPL and also for ported (and what is the best tune for the ported) I am not sure whether Im going ported or sealed yet, help me decide guys

how does 3 cubes @ 30-32 hz sound?

i had mine in 3 @ 33hz.

it was loud and low.

then 2.8 @ 36hz was even louder, but didnt reach quite as low.

Not sure about the size, but i would go ported. The sealed 12w7 i've heard dont sound all that great to me.

thats how much the shop by me charges for the JL H.O. box, but just a reg box is around $200. there is a reason i have decided to make my own boxes

yeah, shops charge money out the ass for labor alone. a local member can build you a better box for 1/3 of the price and it'll be just as good if not better than the box you get at the shop. or maybe someone will do it for a beer or 2.

that's why i hate going to shops for ANYTHING especially advice. they try to **** your wallet and get you to buy stuff you don't want/need. plus half the people don't kno what the fuck they're talking about.

best W-7 setup I heard was a JL 1000.1 with the sub in a 5.2 cube box tuned at 33 Hz.
