Ok, help a fellow dub 6v2 owner out. I plan on building my own box, can't see giving someone $150 to do it, and i have some questions about enclosures for one 12w6v2. I will be running it off its soul mate, the 500/1. I want a sealed box, 70% SQ and 30% SQL/SPL.

My question is, JL recommends about 1.25 cu.ft. but would going larger, say 1.5-2.0 cuft. be better or should i just stick with the 1.25???

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks guys!!!

would building a 13" to 13.5" tall front baffle be a bad idea? I am tight on vertical height. I still should have about .25 or .50 inches of MDF excess beyond the 12.5 overall diameter of the W6v2. I plan to double up the front baffle to 1.5" and recess the driver.

thanks

that would be fine...

i got 2 of them with the same configuration and I also had very limited space to work with.

I did 1.35 cuft per woofer and double up on the front baffle.

My height is 13.5 on the money.

That setup should work well together, I had the 500/1 and a 10 inch W7 a couple of years ago and it was a great setup and I have heard even better things about the W6v2 but have never owned one. As far as box size it really depends on the type of car/truck you are using it in. The same box in one car usually sounds different in another car. I would build it to spec and if you wonder what it would be like to have a smaller box then fill your current boxwith blocks of wood and see how that sounds. If you wonder about a larger box then you would have to build another one.

thanks guys...
hcoronado - how do you like the W6's driven off the 500/1?
The 2 w6v2's sound amazing!

I have both amps configured Master/Slave configuration which made the installation a lot easier.

I had 6 w3's back in the day and i am able to achive more SQ out of those 2 then when i had 6 w3's

In much simpler words........I love this setup!

I had the room but for the jls sealed to jl's specs I used in a large suv and they slammed, check my posts I always said they were the best sql subs I have owned and always liked them.
