12w6 blown?

vc1+ and vc1- is one coil then vc2+ and vc2- is the other coil take the jumper off and test each coil should have the same readings

figures jl would make things complicated lol i had one of my subs here i was going to show you of mine but yours looks a bit different

ok with the jumper off each voice coil read about 3.5-3.7 a piece but it was really jumpy, sometimes it would go to 2 for a second, the jump right back up

ok thanks alot i really apricate it. its weird tho how when the jumper is plugged in, it only reads like 6. something, oh well. thanks again

Being that I have some 12w6v2's maybe I can add something for you.

If you want these subs to be wired down to 2 owns, PER SUB, you'll need to add another jumper onto your voice coils

V1+ TO V2+; V1- TO V2-.

And when you hook your DMM up to the speaker terminal on the sub, it should read right around 2.4, or so.

The DMM reading will jump around if you're holding in your hands or moving it around while testing it.

wow your absoutly right i put the dmm flat and it wasnt jumping, it stayed right at 6.5 but idk isn't that weird if its wired to 8 ohms? oh well and thank you, i plan to wire it for 2 ohm per sub when i get a new amp, but right now all i have is the jl 500/1 which doesnt handle it.

oh i dont care haha im just lookin for help and I'm getting it lol, but i dont think it will because i have 2 12w6's, not one. both of them wired to 2 ohms would drop it down to a 1 ohm load, no?

Wiring them in parallel will drop them to 1 ohm. Wiring them in series you can get 4 ohms. Google 'subwoofer wiring diagram' and RESEARCH your wiring options.

For two 12's, that 500/1 may sound alright, but TWO 500/1's it would sound WAY better. : D

I have a JL 1000.1 I'm selling. It's not listed here, and so...

ok ok ok, these are my first subs show mercy lol, but is wiring the subs in a series 2ohm better/louder then 8ohm a piece parallel? also is 2 500/1 better then a 1000/1? just tryin to clear up the info haha, I really apricate it though.

well i think you have the series and parallel mixed up i believe parallel will give you the 2 ohms and series will give 8 the difference in wiring in series or parallel will be how much power is going to go to them the higher resistance the less power
