12v-14v?

i know a car battery has a output of around 12v, but i was wonderin how do u get it to be 14v when it is goin into the amp?

When the car is running, the electrical system is running at 14v. But when the car is off and play your system without the car running, you will be playing it at 12v.

wow i must needa new battery then....my battery voltage with the car off is like 11.3v

I just walked outside and put a DMM on mine...car's been sitting overnight and it is currently 39 degrees Farenheit here.....read 12.438vdc.

k, so when i have my car running it will putout 14v. i was wonderin cause i am goin to get 2 apline mrd-m605s and it says 400w at 12v and 600w at 14v. so this amp will put out 600w when my car is running and 400w when it isnt?

It depends on your particular vehicle. Some cars charge at 14.4V, some at 13.8V...some even lower than that.

But yes, in an unregulated design such as that, the amplifier will output more power with a higher voltage input. Which means more power with the car running, and less power when the car's off.

But even then..the difference between 400w and 600w is only 1.7db...which is not a big difference to the ear in all reality.

nice choice of sub and amp, i have 1 type-r and 1 mrd-605 and it sounds awesome
