I HAVE A 12W7 running on a Rockford Fosgate 1500BD when i turn it up it has this noise like rattling from the sub. Is it because i have to break it in?

Mabye its loose in the box, or mabye the sub is damaged. Take it out and play it free air at a lower volume untill you hear the sound. If you dont hear it, its probably the box.

Dont put your face close to the sub when playing it.

yes, it probably is the sub. when running optimum power on a sub when it is new, it will have a "clapping/humming" sound. dont worry, ur sub is fine. just dont bang it really hard for a couple of weeks (2). after that it will have a muffled sound so then u can gradually turn it up more and more til u reach desired music level....and yes keep ur head away from the sub when listening to it, u will hear some noise.

like matt said, make sure its tight against the box with some kind of gasket. If its sealed check for any large air leaks.
