an Orion HCCA 12.2 which is one of the best subs out there :]

But I think they are $350

the hcca's sound like shit. trust me you dont want one of those. they have alot of excursion but if you want any remnant of sq dont get it

I would suggest CSS SD12 or Shiva-X2 but both of those are dual 2's. Go with the Q

*edit* The SD12 is a single 4ohm.

ive been wanting to try one of these for a while now, its basically an upgraded FI Q. It might be a little over your budget but i thought it would be worth mentioning.

they are made to play the lows. hence the long throw and low Fs....
check out ssa forums and go to the fi section. they will tell you everything you need to know about an fi q.

I really liked my Diamond audio TDX for low end in a ported box. I also like my IDMAX 12 in ported or sealed box on the low end.

Any TC-9 based sub sounds nice on the lows also.
