they will mechanically be capable of reproducing frequencies lower than a ported box, yes.

But the ported box will have much more output on the lows down to it's F3 than a sealed box.

If you want the lows and you want them LOUD then you need alot of cone area,an A-$-$-L-O-A-D of power and some very good subs that move A-L-O-T of air and can handle the A-$-$-L-O-A-D of power.

Everyone's opinion will be different, but I'd say the Type X is quite a bit more musical than the tyep R'z yo.

mine sounded pretty decent and definately did a nice job with the lows.. i had them in 4.5 @33 and they slammed the low notes pretty well (low as in 28-33 hz late nite tip, soul survivor type stuff)
