Type Rs are cheaper without a doubt. But I assure you the M6mkII and the D6 are the same sub excepting nomenclature.

is it worth the extra 30 bucks over the R?

also, how are 12" rlp's off of 600 watts? and where can i snag one new besides right from soundsplinter?

All I can tell you for certain is that I personally like the way the Diamond performs (I paid full retail for mine 'cause I wanted the 3yr warranty).

I cannot comment on how it compares to the R as I just don't know (never heard an R in a decent install, personally)

And as for the RL-p I don't know anything at all about them outside of the specs on paper look pretty impressive and those that have them relate continual stories about loving them. I've long wanted to get four RL-i 8s and go ported with those to see how it turned out...

a friend of mine had an eclipse aluminum 10" .. he only gave that thing 400rms off an eclipse amp.. IT POUNDEDDDD like it was getting atleast 800 .. Type R's are great too

if you wanna be different get something else, but theres a reason why everyone has type rs and such .. because there reliable .. dont see a type R get blown too often..

i had my rl-p on 600watts and it was enough. Not full excursion but it was enough to get decently loud. 700-800watts seems like the sweet spot for the rl-p

not that it SHOULD matter, but i'm not a big fan of the appearance? i'm going for a bit of a "show look"... i know, sounds newbish, but if i didn't care about appearance i would look into it
