12" Kicker Comp VX or 12" Solo-Baric L7?

^^ do you have experience with the CVX's?
I do.

Well, I have both woofers here so I have had lots of time to play with each.

They both have the same motor, suspension, cone make, everything....only one is round and one is square.

if you plan on doing a sealed box, CVX all day. they sound a good bit better in sealed enclosures than L7's...and L7's aint no slouch in sealed boxes either to be honest.

in Ported, they both sound about the same to me, each pair of comp vx's i have is ran by a kx2500.1, so they get plenty of power.

really...it's a toss up. The CVX's are new (mainly why I chose these), more versatile I guess since they are round. But I just wanted to share with you because I want you to be confident in your buying decision. I know if someone didn't tell you their own hands on experiences with CVX's, then if you bought them you would always wonder...well what if? ya know?

so, if you need any suggestions, feel free to holla!

i appreciate the info. this is very helpful to me. i am absolutely going to go with a sealed box..

i just LOVE the look of the square subs. i have owned an L5 15, two L5 10s, and an L7 10. they have almost all been in ported boxes. i want something that is going to sound accurate though, and i just have my doubts that an L7 in a small (0.88-1.2) sealed enclosure will sound great. like i said, i had a bad experience with my 10" L7 in a sealed box.

here is the box i have been looking at

it says it's 0.88 cfu. the L7 reccommends 0.8-2.0

do you think i would be ok with a box like that?

This will be powered by a 600.1 which makes 710W..

Keep us posted how you like the setup and if the power seems appropriate or if more would be ok. Also what size box you go with?

I've got 1200 at 2ohm and ~2200 at 1ohm so I gotta figure which would be better for 2.

i have a 12 cvx 2ohm wired @1 ohm to my 1200 x-file audio ampin in this ported 2 cu ft enclosure tuned to about 35 htz.

its in the back of my f-150 ext cab behind my driver seat with the single seat up and it bangs, idk if a 12 l7 would have done better in that box, what do u think? but i am very satisfied with it, it bangs considering it is only 1 sub.

PS i just carpeted the box today thats y its outside my truck
