3.5-4 cu ft works best if you tune properly. Once you get up to 4.5 and bigger it sounds like isht. They get real boomy, and start to have a sound like a retard smacking a barrel with a ball bat. Not good IMO

oh ok, so could i do the 3 cubes than fill the box wit polyfill? how big will the sub think the box is if i use polyfill?

OK, then it will work pretty good without much else. It is small, but not end of the world small. Just tune the box really freaking low, or you will lose a ton of low frequency output.

I wouldn't go any higher than 34hz in a box that small. Maybe even lower if you listen to a lot of low bass rap music. I can't stand the crap, so it's hard for me to say. The FS of the woofer should be around 28-30 hz after it is fully broken in, so it won't do any good to tune lower than 30.

I don't think polyfil would work worth a flip in a ported box. Never tried it. Seems like it would fugg up the port output.

I mean the aluminum coil and the copper coil have different sound characteristics.......
Make the box a lot smaller. Big boxes sound like isht IMO

so i guess i need to just add to the inside of the box..? i also want to tune a little lower. can i just modify my existing box. just basic L port tuned to 38hz. would like it to be down to about 34-35.
