12" Alpine Type R Grill

I'm curious, has anyone used the KTE-12WG grill that is made for the Alpine Type R 12" subwoofer? I have the subwoofer and noticed that it has some pretty good excursion and was wondering if anyone has had a problem using the grill with this sub. I don't typically have a lot in the trunk, but would like to keep the sub protected from the occasional grocery bag projectiles. I just received the grill and put some DJ Magic Mike on to test it out and didn't notice it hitting the grill, but it seemed like it was real close.

if you're worried, just space it with washers or something to bring it out a tad.

It actually has a pretty low amount of excursion, imo.
