12 or 15 that Plays Low

Good Day,

I am currently running a DD 2512, in 2.2 cubes ported. The box was designed by Taylor and I asked him to tune it low for Rap but not sure what we settled on. I am powering it with a MBQ 1500.1 which provides 1500 @ 1ohm. This in a 2000 Lexus GS. I recently upgraded the alternator when the stock one gave out. I've also did the big 3 at the same time.

I've been very happy with this set-up for about 18 months. But, as we all do from time to time, I've gotten upgrade itis. The main thing I would like to upgrade is low frequency response - I seem to be missing drops 40hz and lower. So, in short I would like to bolster output in that area, if I can gain a little output at the same time that would be nice but better lows are the main goal.

I think the DD is about fried so a new sub is needed. I thought going to a 15" and sealing it would be best. I'd rather not give up much more trunk space so sealing might help close the gap on lows and keep the box smallish. But guys, I'm really not sure here. I'm open on budget but not sure what direction I should go. Looking for advice.

Thank you,

Joe

You must be tuned ridiculously high then. 40 hz is a high note to me lol

When people say lows i'm thinking like the mid 20s lol

You just need a lower tuned box.

You're better off with a a ported 12 than a sealed 15

SSA xcon 12 should fit you nice, and they are having a black friday sale

just make sure you get a low tuned box for it if you want to hit the low notes. Like the 30 to 34 hz range.

Thank you, I'll look into the XCON.

What makes you suggest is specifically, likes to go low, box preference, etc....

Thanks again and anyone else care to weight in?

if you want a sick streetbeater the fi q with the high q option and cooling etc.. should beat and get down low.a sealed 15 won't get as low or as loud.
This. Fi Q is a great daily sub, same with the SSA lineup. The xcon is essentially just a beefed up Fi Q. With SSA's black friday sale I would pick one up if you could afford it before prices go back up...

Thanks again for the input.

I'll look into the FI Q. Also been kicking around the idea of an IA Death Row 12", any thoughts on it?
