Hello all. This is my first post on this board //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif . My question is not an easy one, and with many variables, but I have a long time to figure it out. I have a 1965 Buick Skylark and I am wanting to put a pretty ****** system in it that I can demo all day long if I want to. I can build up to a 12 cubic foot box while retaining the space I need and want for performance mods and trunk storage space(gotta love old cars with BIG trunks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ). I can put up to 10 8's, 6(possibly 8) 10's, 4 12's, 3 15's or 2 18's in the box. I am wanting to be able to do some pretty intense hairtricks with all four windows down? have pretty good sound quality, and have good frequency response on extreme lows(18~20hz) up through??? I can install 3 batteries in my car(possibly 4 kinetik 3800's or something else???) , and definately 2 if not 3 alternators(150~200amps a piece). Just curious as to what you guys might suggest for this build as far as subwoofer size, brand, and what to power them with? I do not know whether the inclosure will be ported yet or not. And I do not have a dollar figure, I am definately not going to go cheap, but not looking for the most expensive option out there(I'm more looking to get a dollar figure to works torwards). Thanks for your help and suggestions, and sorry for the novel. Also I know this doesn't go with car audio very well... but lightweight components are always a BIG plus! This car is meant to be a competitive drag racer first and foremost. I am lightening the car in hopes to offset the car audio equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif lol

This 12 cubic foot box is going in the trunk yes? Do the seats fold allowing bass to travel into the cabin? You must make sure you don't make a rattle trap, there must be plenty of open area to allow the bass to pass into the cabin area. You could make a 4th order blow through, basically the port would fire into the car though an opening somewhere. Or you could try a simple ported box. Tune low (27-32 hz) to help you dig into the 18-20hz. 6-8 tens or 4 twelves might be the best way to go as 12 cubes after port and bracing and driver displacement becomes much less, should be around 9 cubes if you have sufficient port area via slot (or with Aero ports you might squeeze out 9.5-10 cubes).

You could, for example take four Soundqubed HDC3 12s

HDC3.112 Copper Coil Subwoofer

Or eight HDS300 10s

HDS300

And strap a pair of 3500D.1s together:

Q1-3500D.1 Amplifier

OR since you're looking for low lows, the Sundown X series are optimized to drop down low effortlessly:

Four of Sundown X12s

X Series

On a pair of either Saz3500 or even the Saz5000 (you may want to get Zv4 12s instead of Xs just in case)

Amplifiers

But really the options are endless. Everyone will suggest something different.

Thanks ancorp! I like to get varied opinions for many different reasons. I know the basics of car audio stuff, but unfortunately do not keep up with enough of the newer and great quality type items. I know many people will have their favorites, but it should all be good stuff that i can keep an eye out for, listen to, cross reference, and generally do my homework on. I love to hear reasons and learn more all the time, so that is why I left the question so open ended. The seats do not fold down, but I can play with the package tray opening, there is roughly a 6x9 sized hole in the center now, and nothing else(major port potential). Eventually I will probably put 6x9's in there. The box will be in the trunk yes, and i threw out 12 cubes as a rough number for internal space without bracing, speakers, or a port. There is a little room for that to grow, but idk how tight of a fit I want the box to be(i could probably squeeze 15 cubes if i really fit the box well but that would be very difficult).
