Well I've search quite a few times on decent amps, good amps, and budget amps, and a few other phrases. Well I found alot of good budget amps, but most of them weren't 1 ohm stable or not around 1000W or not in my price range. There also seems to be a huge amount of amps out there to choose from.

I need a 1000WRMS amp, 1 ohm stable amp.

Here's what I've been looking at so far.

HIFONICS BRUTUS BX1206D 1200W@1ohm for around $215 shipped

I read they were good, then I heard their quality has diminished and they aren't as good anymore

POWER ACOUSTIK OV1-2000D 1200W@1ohm for around $190 shipped

I have read mixed feelings about the PA's

Kenwood KAC-X10D Just says over 600W@1ohm, but doesn't state what wattage is. That can be had for around $145 shipped

I read alot of mixed reviews about Kenwoods)

*EDIT*

Crunch PZI 1500.1 1500W@1ohm for around $165 shipped

I don't really know much about these amps.

OR

The PZI 1000.1 1000W@1ohm for around $150 shipped

*EDIT*

Saw some Lanzar's but heard they were crap. Saw a few others but I can't find the posts or can find the sites I found them.

Which one's are overrated or underrated (usually).

I was leaning toward Hifonics, but read their quality has diminished.

Then I'd have to say PA just because it gives me a rated power at 1ohm.

But I heard kenwood excelon were decent amps for price.

So is there one amp you guys would get out of the others? You guys probably have more knowledge about this.

Also any other amps that would fit in that catagory would be much appreciated.

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

the HF's a safe bet. Your assessment of their general quality is fairly accurate IMO, but it's not that they've gotten BAD. It's just that back in the day they had some SERIOUSLY high quality amps. For

PA - hard to say - they're so inconsistent on power ratings it's hard to tell what ACTUALLY does what, but with 60A fuse - my money says no way it's 1000 rms.

The Kenwood is a good quality amp, but it's not going to sniff 1000w. 600-700.

Lanzar gets thrown in the tank by a lot of people because the max power numbers on their non-Optidrive amps are comical, but for the most part you get what you pay for. They're ok budget amps. I've owned 5 of them.

They've been building ~1000w low-cost class d amps for several years now and all of them are decent amps IMO. They had some issues with the original Vibe1200D that cost them some business, but the HTG2600D and Vibe1800D should both do at least 1000w fairly reliably and be within your budget.

I had a 1200D when they were having issues with them and communicated a lot with Lanzar for a few months.

So I should just stick with Hifonics? I have heard more good things about hifonics than either other brands. But saw the others and thought, maybe those might work.

Also I was just reading that class A/B amps sound better than Class D?

So If I got a 2 channel amp and bridged to 2 ohms it'd sound better than mono?

Mono (class D) are just more efficient?

I didn't know there was a sq difference between them. Just though mono was more efficient because only 1 channel.

Would it be more expensive to get a 2-channel that runs around 1000WRMS while bridged?

Still reading the 14 page long thread discussed about it at diymobileaudio.

Thanks for replies.

the hifonics are good amps, made by maxxsonics, crunch is also made by this company, the crunch is supposedly a lower end mode. Class D amps are more efficient and smaller physiccaly than a/b amps. Some people argue though that a/b sound better.

Yeah I have no problem with buying used or refurbished gear with all things considered. Heck I'd rather do it that way just to try and get better quality amp for decent price. But like I said all things considered of course. Like age, condition, seller...you know.

Thanks for replies guys

Also I was just reading that class A/B amps sound better than Class D?
No.

In the subwoofer frequencies a 1000w class D amp will sound virtually identical to a 1000w a/b and be significantly more efficient.

I have to say "virtually" because there is always a small group of people that believe an audible difference exists, and that they have heard a difference in such a scenario. However, you can safely bet they've never actually been involved in a controlled blind test to verify what they believe they can hear.

So If I got a 2 channel amp and bridged to 2 ohms it'd sound better than mono?
No

Plus - 2 ch's bridgable to 2 ohms are pretty rare, and it would require a lot more current from your alt/batt compared to a class d of equal power.

I will have my planet audio bb1250.1 for sale, when my 2kw gets here.. I love planet audio ! Cheap & quality usually don't go together but, not with planet audio.. It does 1kw RMS @ 1ohm and i could have sworn, i have seen birth sheets that were 1100-1200RMS... Never even once, have i had a problem with it. Good luck

FWIW, I've been very happy with my Crunch amp. Shit, I know it's not the best, but I'm probably pushing 700 watts daily easy, with the gains set at about 5/8. I don't want to go higher, and risk damaging stuff, but I don't doubt it could do a lot better. I got it for like $160 shipped, best price I could find on anything close to the specs it had. been running it 1 ohm daily FYI:fro:

if you can save up or spend 400, the sundown sae 1000d is warenteed at 1000wattts @1ohm, that is a real safe bet for a 1ohm sub, extremely great customer service, and a rock *** solid amp, perfect for a 1ohm street car.

Yeah there's no way I could do 400. See if I can find a used one though.

Thanks for heads up on the planet audio and the crunch's. I'll look those up see what I can find.

Thanks again

Dont forget about the Fusions , there very cheap for the quality, we have done some extensive testing on there new line and all I can say is they are crazy! pm me for more info, thanks
