I currently have a infinity 7541 amp powering a set of 200 watt components in front. I would like to get a couple subs but I don't want to go buy a new alternator. I was thinking about buying an HIFONICS 1206D amp to power a couple 800 wrms subs. So altogether my system will be drawing around 1000 WRMS and my alternator puts out 120a. Will there be any problems?

Run the BIG 3 if you don't know what it is go in the electrical section read the sticky BIG 3 and will explain . also a nice upgrade as you said a H.o. alt and 2nd battery also.

i was running like 800 watts on stock and had slight diming (80 amp alt) but the battery was a pos. when i changed that out for a deep cycle one - the dimming stopped. so i would suggest doing at least that. + big 3

I did the big 3, with a 1100D and a 4 channel with a 140 amp alt( powermaster) and a powermaster 2700 battery, I can dim my lights still.

Likely you'll want more at some point, get a 200 if you can, like I said on the other site, it is winter up here you will need lights and heater on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Install it first and see how bad it dims. Then BIG3 and if that doesn't cure it then I'd do a better batt up front. I run 1k in the GF's car with minor dimming at full volume and she rarely listens that loud. Stock batt in back with 4g wiring...

I ran about 1100rms with a 75A stock alt in a car that was generally considered to have an undersized alt. It ran ok for 2 years - dimming at high volume. Finally, with 226k on the odometer the alt died.

I replaced it with a 110A and it ran the same system with no problems at all. The only wiring upgrade I made was to run an 8 ga from the alt to b(+).

In other words - you're fine.
