1000 watts... what subs...

Ok, all of my wiring is now done. Amps are in.

I have my 12" JL's in a sealed box temporarily until I can figure out which route to go next.

So... with about 1000 watts (spec sheet says 1250)

And about 3.5cu ft of space. Figure tune to 30hz

What subs, how many, what size?

1 good 12? (would get the full 1000 watts)

2 decent 12's? (would split 1000 watts)

1 15? (would get the full 1000 watts)

3 10's? (would split the 1000 watts)

Looking for SQL. Daily driver.

Listen to mostly rap, with some Metallica/Pantera thrown in from time to time.

I am more looking at what size and how many I should do and try to stay within $400.

I do prefer a smaller box too. 3.5cu ft is my max, but would prefer smaller.

Also, I am looking for "NEW" subs. Do not want to buy used.

So with the price...consider what they can be had for from an online dealer.

I am not partial on any one brand. So post them up and I will go research their site!

You say you do not want used speakers but what about freshly reconed speakers?? Only thing used is the motors??

If your cool with reconed then I would run 3 of these I do not think 3.5cf before displacement is big enough to run 4 - http://www.caraudio.com/forums/subwoofer-classifieds/502023-sundown-sa-8s-%2485-each-shipping.html

Also, pierce audio is having a sell right now on there emp8's bnib $80 a pop - Factory direct online store

The run of the mill 2 12" or 2 10" setup is getting old. Multiple 8's would be different and will get just as loud if not louder assuming you provide them a proper box.

I really enjoy my two SA-10s with 1kw. Sound great, and get really loud for tens. My box is 2.75cu @ 36hz.

I agree, but cone area of the 2 12s vs the 10s and both well built..I say skar 12 for this application.

I in no way am trying to dump on Skar. I think most that are saying bad things about them are either jealous cause they want but can't afford or there like me and don't think that Skar is the best thing since sliced bread. There prob good subs but do they warrant the **** near godly status everyone is trying to give them??? My answer is no..

3 sa-8's over 2sa-12's or Skar 12's (that is all the help Skar will get from me LOL) all day.

3 sa-8's or 3 paps emp 8's will be right around $300 to ur door. Thats a extra $100 to spend on box.

With that extra $100 talk with dustin (rabbit) and get urself a box built.

I think they are well built(not godly) but ok. For the price hard to beat.

We will see when I get my hands on the skar for testing soon.
