1000 watt amp (550@4)-(1000@2), 2 ohm sub can i just leave it at 2

i got a 1000 watt amp 2 ohm sub i want all the wattage to go to this sub but researching a 2 ohm can only be wired to 4 or 1. could i just put the sub in as it self 2 ohm and get what i need without damaging anything

4 ohm load, I would advise against wiring to a one ohm load. A little more juice anyways will make that sub come to life.

It’s not a single 2 ohm coil. It is two 2 ohm coils.

You need a dual 4 ohm to run @ 2 ohms. Or, a single voice coil two ohm sub.

Google is more responsive alternative if you want to get shitty about it.

Your 1 ohm sub will draw twice as much current as your 2 ohm amp can deliver, which will kill it.

You can run one coil, but power handling will be lower -- not 1/2 as many will claim -- more like 3/4.
You can also short the open coil, but that has a big effect on t/s parameters, basically making it a different sub (I can't recall the specifics).

Running one cool isn’t going to much different than running it properly at 4 ohms

I have a new kicker cxa1200.1 amp and the new mono kicker amps advertise themselves to be 1 ohm stable. But the owners manual says it will still only put out the same 1200 watts rms at one ohm as it does for two ohm. But only 600 watts rms at 4 ohm.
