$1000 budget for S2000 audio

Yeah, check out http://www.dlsamerica.com I have the UP6's and they kick major *** in every car I have heard them in. There is a dude on these forums that deals Dls authorized over the net for awesome prices. (Tplaya07) so you can pm him for prices, but I think UP6's would be about $300 or so. The UP6's are in the Ultimate line.

I should also mention that I dont mind bright tweeters. I had the MB Quart PSD 216 in my last S2000 and didnt mind them at all. I think I might actually prefer bright because I have CDT CL61s in my Vette and dont like them.

trust me on the UP's, plus you can set the tweeter level on the crossover to play them louder- though they play fairly low(the tweeters) which is really nice for male vocals on a nice soundstage. If bright is what you want- Focal is your brand- some of those tweets will saw your ear off.

BTW, if anyone knows a good installer in the DFW area, please let me know also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

holy crap, I saw that the Bostons can handle a lot of power, but that much?
Let me try to find that amp you suggested. Thanks

I looked at the Kicker zx550.2 and Orion 8002 but wasnt sure if those were good quality amps.
Rule #1 in car audio: buy the amp that has as much power as you can afford with the features (size, x-overs, flexibility, etc) you need. You can never have too much pow-power baby!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Keep in mind that if you do pick up an Eclipse 8v HU, you are getting a fairly hot signal to the amps to begin with. Depending on the sensitivity of the amp you might not need to turn the gains much at all before clipping.

The DLS amps and comps are great suggestions, but I don't know how you would squeeze them plus an Eclipse in under $1K. Zapco is pretty much out of reach unless you can pick up a used one.

As long as you are open to comp suggestions, I might as well throw my shamless plug in for the Seas at mobilesq

better because you think they are better speakers or because they require a less expensive amp (less power)?
the lower power amp... you could get the DLS's and a nice lower power Zapco //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif in fact there is someone selling a nice Zapco 100x2 I beleive for 175 shipped in the classifieds section... go to a local shop with zapco, hook up a nice set of speakers (focal, bostons etc) and listen to a zapco amp drive them then some other mainstream amp.... you'll become a zapco freak like me... I listened to a lowly Iforce vs a top of the line Clarion amp on focal access comps in a store and the difference was amazing. Then when I setup my system and my g/f's system (check sig) her's sounded WAY better on the zapco amp than my diamond audio amp. You could also look for Arc audio, Tru Amps and uhh I forget the others... I've never heard any of them but they are all supposed to be on the level of Zapco...

Is that really true? I keep reading that as long as the amp puts out the right amoung of wattage and has the right THD numbers, there is no such thing as SQ from an amp?

Just wondering.

I guess I need to pm that guy about a price on the UP6. I dont really have a fixed budget. I just dont wanna get carried away with audio stuff because I spend so much on performance parts.

Wouldnt a JL 300/2 or Phoenix Gold Ti 600.2 be "high end" enough?

so the DLS are better than Adire Kodas and Image Chameleons and Boston Pros?

One thing I didnt mention is that the tweeter is probably going in the stock location unless my installed recommends otherwise. The DLS tweeter are 1.1" instead of the standard 1 inch so I dunno if that will produce a problem.

I'm not sure here but DLS has a good rep. Also I didn't think amps made a big difference till I heard it myself.... go to a store and listen for yourself.... make sure it's zapco or some other uber high end amp vs "high-end" consumer stuff... also make sure the speakers are high end as well.. I heard the difference and I'm going deaf so most people should be able to hear the difference...

would the Eclipse 8053 be a better SQ headunit since it doesnt have an internal amplifier?

dammn u people; u are gonna make me spend a lot of money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I don't know but that would be easy to find in a shop somewhere... it's worth a trip to find out... ohh and find the biggest a**hole salesman and waste like an hour of his time making him show you all the combo's and walk out... if he's a nice guy or knows his shit then tell him your just here to listen so you don't waste his time ....
