10'' subwoofer questions.

SWINE FLU!!!!
i'm new to car audio, so i had a question about subwoofers.

lets say I buy 1 10'' subwoofer, with dual voice coilover, and it costs me $209, with a peak of 800 watts and a RMS of 400 watts.

would It sound just as good as if I bought 2 10'' subwoofers with single voice, that only cost $115, with a peak of 400 watts and a RMS of 200 watts?

would the single good sub still hit harder than the two mediocre subs together?

It depends on the install (box and car), amplifier, and the driver. I would take a single high end sub over two low end subs any day.

However, two 10" subwoofers have more theoretical potential to get louder because there is more cone area, but I would still take the single.

What subs are these?

dont get the RT mtx subs if that is what ur talking about.

no. i bought a rockford fosgate Power stage 2 10'' subwoofer. i had intended to get the dual voice one, but then i got home and realized that's not what i got. so i was wondering if i should return it, and just pay the difference to get the dual voice coil, or if i should just go get another sub, then when i go back next week just buy a dual sub box instead of the single box i had planned on getting.

here are the sub specs if you don't already know them...

4 or 8 ohm SVC subwoofer

200 wats RMS/400 watts peak

the sub/s will be going into the trunk of my 1991 Mazda 626

and while i have peoples attention, first i'd like to state, that for right now, i'm not getting too serious about car audio, but in the future i plan on working on my system a lot.

so i'll ask a few questions...

as far as having a sub and an amp, does my head unit really affect my sub as long as it has a sub/amp preout?

2. knowing what subs i'm talking about, could you steer me in the direction of a good $300ish amp for my rockford sub, or if you tell me to stick with just buying another sub to make it a pair, a good amp that would supply power to both subs

Okay so you are going to need an amp that puts out around 400-500w RMS at 2 ohms, shouldnt be hard to find on a $300 budget.

I would say THIS if the bidding stays under like $120 or so. I owned that amp previously and it is one reliable little amp. Never had a problem.

Or if you want something brand new (the JBL's are no longer made) then go for something like THIS
