10" subs for trunk???

I'm looking at putting in some 10" subs (2) in the trunk of a caddy. I listen mostly to Slipknot, Korn, and some rap, but mostly the first. I need something that will punch through, any suggestions on subs? I'm running a hifonics 1500 mono amp!

 

Say under $400 a pair!

Why 10"s? You could get a single 15" and port it thus saving you a little bit of money. The punchiness you're probally looking for is going to be coming mostly from your midbass speakers. I would suggest looking into a decent set of 6.5" components and something to power them with (not your HU).

What's your front stage (interior speakers) consist of? Majority of the sound you are likely looking for comes from the midbass, not the sub.

Ok, I'm running 4x6 fosgate in the front deck(the speakers are on the top not the side doors) and fosgate 6x9 2 way in the back deck. I am running the 4 off a Phoniex Gold amp, and tried running some L7's in a slot box but sounds like crap!!!

i would find some room for 12's, i have 10's in my truck and they dont boom with slipknot the way my car 12's do. i have a 1500d also. and for 400 a pair you could get some slammin 12's...

Yeah man.....a pair of subs isn't going to fix your lack of midbass problem.

I'd look into getting a way to fit a good pair of 6.5" comps up front, then worry about the subs.

But, that's just my opinion.

Those Rockford speakers have got to go IMO. See if you can find some Q-Forms kickpanels or someone who knows how to fiberglass. You could have an amazing subwoofer setup but I still think it would sound pretty 'eh' on rock music without a good set of components.

Ok, I tried some Kicker L7's in a slot box awhile back, and sounded like crap, any of those listed would be an improvement, and do kickers sux that much!
