I just picked up a 2010 accord coupe ex w/ the Premium system (270 watts/8" sub). I'm looking at trying to pick up a good open-air 8" sub to replace the stock unit, and already have an Alpine amp to run it.
I want to replace the door speakers. I'm looking at components. I guess I need to know what I need to look for if I listen to rock/metal (Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Unearth, etc). I like bass, but don't like it to be overpowering. The stock 8" "sub" isn't cutting it, but I don't want to rattle any panels or the trunk lid or anything like that. I've been told I need an open-air sub due to the way the stock unit is mounted (rear deck, hangs below into trunk compartment).
Does anyone know the tweeter size that comes stock? What recommendations do you have? How should dynamat (or similar brand) be used to keep the panels from rattling, thereby causing permanent loose and rattling panels even w/ low volumes?
